Analysis on the social network effects of senior job placement participation

Abstract

|
Due to increasing recognition on the importance of social participation of older adults, Korean government has continually expanded senior job placement project, nevertheless facing public controversies on the effectiveness of the project. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effectiveness of senior job placement policy from the viewpoint of social network and life quality changes brought by participating in senior job placement project. For analysis, 1,000 cases have been collected nationwide, 700 extracted from the list of participants who have newly participated in the project in 2011, and 300 extracted from the waiting list. Analysis on the social network effect of the program have been made based on the multiple regression model that controls the individual`s level of social network prior to project participation. Furthermore, mediation effect of social network on life quality have been analyzed. It has been found that the participants of senior job placement project have stronger formal social network that non participants as a result of participating in the project. Also, the mediation effect analysis shows that social network increased by participating in the project mediates increase in life quality of the participants.
